# How a small team uses Rebost

Each person runs Rebost on their own machine, Mac or Windows, and points a Shelf at the folder the team already shares. That shared folder is the whole team feature. There is no server to run and no central account for anyone to administer.

1. Install Rebost on each machine from [GitHub Releases](https://github.com/Frontierz-AI/Rebost/releases).
2. Install the AI that first launch offers. It is sized for that machine's memory, and Chat cannot answer until it is on disk.
3. Create a Shelf and link the shared folder, or drop files into it.
4. In Chat, select that Shelf when the answer should come from those documents. Citations open the source file.
5. Save recurring requests as Recipes, and write House rules once for a tone the whole team shares.

Every install runs its own AI, so conversations stay on the machine they were typed on. The shared folder is what the team has in common; nothing about a conversation is pooled or synchronized.

A Shelf holds up to 1,000 files. When the shared folder is offline, that source pauses until it is reachable again.

Counts of personal information are counts, not a legal opinion.

Rebost uses the network to find or install an AI and to check for a newer release. Documents on a Shelf are not uploaded, and Online stays off until it is turned on in Settings.
